Legal Counsel (m/f/d)

At praxipal, we are building an AI-powered healthcare admin workforce to address the global shortage of medical staff.

Medical assistants are too valuable to spend their days chasing callbacks, cleaning up schedules, sending repetitive messages, or wrestling with invoicing and documentation workflows. Staff should spend time on patients. That's why we build Luna.

Our AI receptionist, Luna, answers and automates phone calls and she's loved by more than 100 medical practices. Right now, we're expanding her from calls to end-to-end patient communication across any channel. Over the next years, we'll grow her into an AI worker that automates all administrative processes in medical practices, embedded directly into the systems teams already use.

We're backed by one of Europe's leading investors and are one of the fastest growing healthtech startups in Germany. Our team has previously worked and studied at Palantir, Amazon, SAP, the University of Cambridge, and Hasso Plattner Institute.

We're hiring a Legal Counsel (part-time) to support our leadership team on legal, compliance, and data protection topics as we scale.

What you'll do

  • Advise our founders and teams across all business areas on legal, compliance, and data privacy matters - serving as the go-to contact for internal stakeholders, medical practices, hospitals, and investors.
  • Accompany the development of new products from a data privacy perspective and establish the necessary legal frameworks.
  • Review, refine, and maintain our internal legal and data privacy processes and documentation, including our legal knowledge base.
  • Support and manage internal compliance processes, including onboarding, training, and occupational safety.
  • Support compliance certification efforts (e.g. MDR, ISO) from a legal and regulatory perspective, working closely with engineering and external partners.
  • Conduct training sessions to raise data privacy awareness across the team.
  • Proactively identify and resolve data privacy risks and issues.

What we're looking for (must-haves)

  • First and second German state examinations ("erstes und zweites Staatsexamen")
  • Multiple years of professional experience in similar roles.
  • Strong drive, ownership mentality, and proven reliability.
  • Comfort operating in dynamic, fast-changing environments.
  • Excellent German and English (professional level).

Nice-to-haves

  • Prior experience in a startup, consulting, VC, or similarly fast-paced environment.
  • Familiarity with healthcare regulation or medical device compliance (e.g. MDR).
  • Experience with the EU AI Act and emerging AI regulation.

Location & compensation

  • Location: Berlin (on-site)
  • Hours: 20 hours per week (part-time)
  • Compensation: Competitive Compensation
  • Office perks: A beautiful workspace in Berlin Mitte, complete with a ping pong table, PlayStation, and VR setup
  • Team bonding: Regular get-togethers, happy hours and offsites
  • Health and productivity: Free dinners, subsidized lunches and sponsored gym subscription
